The Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET), located in Beaumont, Texas, is internationally renowned for its collections and exhibitions. The museum was incorporated in 1950 as the Beaumont Art Museum but was renamed when it moved to its Main Street location in 1987. Over the years, AMSET’s permanent collection has grown from 200 to nearly 2,000 objects, with an emphasis on collecting from contemporary Texas artists, regional folk artists, and Mexican folk artists. AMSET hosts four to eight special exhibitions each year, most of which are organized in-house, as well as four to six smaller exhibitions each year of local artists. This application presents audio and visual information on artworks in AMSET’s collection from various periods and cultures, as well as background on artists. Information is presented by the museum’s Curatorial Team and Executive Director. Pinch-screen technology allows for extreme close-up views of each object. Users can select tours, listen to audio tours and share experiences through social media.
